Perfect for the job
Getting the lighting right to assist with research into endangered sea turtles is a juggling act as they are extremely sensitive to movement and light when emerging from the ocean. Having the brightest torch with the longest throw works for some but with the turtles we need an all round performer. The moonlight settings on the Warrior Mini and Arkfield Pro are perfect for the times when our eyes are not enough.
We recently found out that the turtles fluoresce when painted with UV light and the Arkfield Pro does this nicely. An added benefit is the UV light also highlights the external parasites on the turtles allowing easier and more accurate data collection.
Speaking of data collection the OPen Glow has the perfect amount of light to allow us to write and complete the data sheets without the need for a brighter light source.
All these torches are used on the beach and are regularly covered in sand and other muck being rinsed in fresh water at the end of the night (except OPen Glow of course). The 2nd photo actually has the Warrior Mini half buried in sand illuminating the egg chamber.
Currently in desperate need of an Array 2 Pro as the wife borrowed mine and refuses to give it back. She gave me her cheap supermarket light, hoping I wouldn't notice.
