The Lighthouse
One night during our most recent Easter getaway to Kiama NSW we were sitting on the Balcony of our beach
front accommodation which is in line of sight to the Lighthouse. A comment was made about the brightness of the Lighthouse lamp and it gave me an idea.
This resulted in my 13 year old and wife taking a walk up to Lighthouse point with my Olight Javelin Turbo in
hand. Plan was to get a comparative between the Olight and Lighthouse, with my son to direct the Javelin
towards my other son and I on the Balcony.
Once they arrived, they called me to say they were in position and the test begun.
Trust me when I say it was a short test. Panic set in from both them and us when we saw the power of this
torch. My son and I were as good as blinded by the beam and told them to shut it down almost immediately, as we were concerned about attracting some negative attention.
My son ran the beam from his position, along the water, across the beach and to our position. The throw of the
beam was insane and made the Lighthouse beam look like a candle.
Satellite image measurements confirmed the distance to be 1.36km and the blinding power was not diminished at this range. It was simply so strong it was impossible to look directly at the beam, even at that distance.
Truly an incredible torch!!!
