Thanks Olight Australia for kickstarting my addiction...
My story begins when I was 14 years old. Having just moved to a 100 acre bush property in the Hunter area, I was looking for a torch to use. I didn't have much money, and ended up purchasing an el-cheapo headlamp from eBay. In the process of finding that headlamp, however, I discovered the fascinating world of extremely bright flashlights well beyond the reach of my then-poor self. It was a little Fenix light with 400 lumens that set the ball rolling, as in a review of it I found it being compared to the S1R Baton. 900 lumens in a thumb sized light!! I was very impressed, and desperately wanted one for myself. However I couldn't afford one, so I decided to attempt to obtain one in a different way. I went to Bunnings and bought a cheap Varta flashlight. I wrote a review of it and posted it to Bushcraft USA forums. I then returned it to Bunnings in exchange for a different model, and did the same thing. ? In this manner I built myself a small portfolio of written reviews and tests that I emailed to Adam Fyfe at Olight Australia. I still don't know exactly why, but he must have taken pity on me and sent an S1R baton for me to review. I was extremely impressed by his generosity, and wrote the best review I could. I even did a somewhat accidental destruction test by throwing it in a fire (melting the lens) and then cooling it (inside and out) in a bucket of water. It survived the test. This, and a few subsequent Olight review samples, kickstarted my addiction of flashlights. Since then I've had everything from the X9R Marauder to the full titanium and copper Warrior Mini set, and Olight has always been my preferred brand. In fact, my current preferred EDC is the fantastic Warrior Mini in Copper.
